Former Clemson defender named top incoming portal signee

Andrew Mukuba transferred to Texas in the offseason, and he made Pro Football Focus' all-transfer portal team:
Mukuba played mostly as a slot cornerback for Clemson this past season and had a nice bounce-back campaign allowing only 0.46 yards per coverage snap — which ranked seventh among Power Five cornerbacks. The year before, he struggled to a 50.2 grade but also dealt with a myriad of injuries, including a dislocated elbow and a sprained MCL
As a true freshman, Mukuba earned a 77.0 grade, which proves that his 2022 struggles should be chalked up more to injuries than anything else. He’ll be a versatile chess piece for Texas, as he can play in the slot, feature deep at free safety or stick his nose in the box at a high level.

They got a great dude and he will be missed, hopefully he adds some weight & muscle too. It will help him avoid the injuries, at least his pocketbook will be filling up.
He would have been legendary at Clemson had he stayed and gotten healthy. I wish him the best!

Like it or not, this is by far our biggest portal loss since this whole Transfer Portal sh!tshow started. Wish him the best, wouldn't be surprised to see him on the all-SEC team.

Unlike backups who transfer to play, we’re seeing starters bailing out for bigger NIL deals all across the landscape. At least we seem to have great starter retention. It appears our NIL program is working.

Ladsen wasnt a starter when he left, and he never contributed.

He wasn’t a transfer who quit a starting spot.
Jones never started a game according to clemsontigers.com and he left because he was losing his role to Trenton Simpson.

Point remains, we lost Makuba who was obviously a starter and factor, but we’ve never lost a starter at another position.

Mukuba's versatility will be missed but he was more of a serviceable guy

than a difference maker the last two years. His true position is more Nickel than Safety, but Barnes is just better than him at that spot. He was a pretty big NIL $ guy to my understanding. After his production the last 2 years, those funds more deservedly should go to Barnes over him to be honest.
