Even more important than hoping to get non-leftists to believe it, the Democrats want their own constituents to swallow it.

They are experts at swallowing, so the Democrats need not worry.

I heard the Venezueleans and Mexicans are having fights in the mornings

at the Home Depot parking lots across the country.

It seems the Mexicans want to work for around $20/hr and the Venezuelans are willing to work for $11/hr because in Venezuela, medical doctors make $8 a WEEK. I talked to a medical doctor, who went to medical school, who works full time in a hospital in Caracas, and his wife was making like 10 times more than he makes, cleaning Motel 6 rooms in Indiana. She was supporting him with her motel cleaning job.

So yeah, we're currently shuffling our imported illegal immigrant labor to favor poorer and poorer countries as Mexico is tapped out as they've already raked in TRILLIONS in the past decade or more, they need and demand more. So enters Guatemala, Honduras, Venezuela, etc.

So much for the ‘compassion’ that Mexican immigrants had led themselves to believe that they would always get from America’s political class.

This should be a lesson for anyone who thinks that our government will always be loyal to him because of his support of a policy that the government is pushing.

Few of these people will actually learn the lesson until after they themselves get screwed.

Mexican's could care less about our "political class". They could care less

about their legal status, or our politics. They don't come here for the American dream, or to become citizens. They come here to work, earn dollars they can send to mexico, exchange for pesos, so their families can live like kings and they can retire to Mexico "rich", by their standards.

Largely, this is exactly what has happened for a couple of generations now. It has worked so well, things in Mexico have gotten so expensive that the leveraging of the dollar is producing less and less returns.

Enter the Venezuelans. Dead broke. With their currency inflation our dollar goes MILES there. They are next in line dying to get here. And they too don't care about our political class, politicians, political parties, or the American dream. And they will come, work hard, send dollars back to Venezuela which will make their families wealthy in Venezuela. In fact, inflation is so bad, and the dollar is so strong in Venezuela, if you go there they take American dollars, BUT you are not supposed to carry bills larger than $5 because most merchants don't have a wheelbarrow of cash to make change for a $20. It's that bad down there.

The situation at the border is not an unavoidable accident.

It's a relatively simple fix, and can easily be done while maintaining our values. We tell people they can't enter our country without due process, and we stop those people from entering. Those who do enter illegally are deported. We are not under any obligation to allow anyone into our country, and anyone allowed in must be deemed an asset and a benefit to The United States and it's citizens. That should be a given with no apologies or explanation required. There are tons of people who are in bad situations in shidhole countries who are willing to come here and work and and contribute and obey the law, and we need to find ways to get those people in in an expedient, controlled fashion, while securing the border at the same time. This isn't the least bit complicated or all that difficult, and any politician who hasn't proposed or voted for that does not have this country's best interest at heart.

Existing immigration laws allow people to claim asylum after illegal entry

That puts them in a legal process _ don’t really agree.

If existing immigration law not only allows, but encourages illegal entry, then it's obviously a law that needs to be tweaked, changed, or trashed altogether to account for that huge flaw. I don't see what's wrong with "remain in Mexico", as we are not obligated to allow anyone into our country, even for what may seem like the right reasons, when doing so is so obviously detrimental to our country and encourages illegal activity designed to intentionally take advantage of our good will and our broken system.

Illegal border crossings shot up in 2019. This much is known.

Also, we know that a bipartisan deal in the Senate to address the border, and which would have given the hard-right alot of what they wanted, was shot down because Trump didn't want to "give Biden a victory."

So, this is another in a long line of fake issues by the right. It serves political interests on the right-wing, but there's no intention of actually "fixing" anything. Trump had 4 years, including two years with a Republican congress, and didn't do anything except separate kids from their families and make it harder for people to legally immigrate, especially if they were from brown/black countries that Trump hated.

Fact: the senate bill was trash and had nothing to do with trump.

For purposes of his argument, please do NOT look at the numbers for 2021/22/23.

The Pubs should have signed the new bill - it was poop, but it was something and it was negotiated poop.

The Dems are counting on people forgetting that they didn’t decide those millions of crossings were an issue until the election cycle was starting.
