Explosive plays.

The question came up in another thread. Thought I'd look it up. Seems like everyone thinks that was a strength of TCU and a weakness of Clemson in 2022. (I figured since I was on the page, I'd see what FSU did as well.)

Plays of 20+ yards (UGA led with 98)
TCU - 91
FSU - 97
Clemson - 58



Plays of 30+ yards (TCU led with 49. Also led in 40+, 50+ and 60+)
TCU - 49
FSU - 37
Clemson - 27

Clearly, it was definitely a weakness for Clemson. If the OL is as good as it is cracked up to be, look for Clemson numbers in 2023 to be up there with TCU numbers of 2022.

If Clemson numbers are up there with TCU numbers of 2022 then I will be shocked and upset if our Tigers aren’t back in the Playoffs with a great chance to win it.

That was definitely a weakness of ours. I would hope with improvement at QB, WR & Off coordinator ours will go up by at least 50%. The FSU numbers should excite you for this coming year. To be just one shy of UGA is impressive.

This year we will have a complete offense. The renewed utilization of the TE and plays from our slot will create more explosive plays. We will be very difficult to defend. I would love to see the correlation between explosive plays and highly rated 4 star and 5 star players. Might prove insightful

If the o line can block and the QB can get it out quickly enough, we should be fine.

Almost doubling our explosive plays would've likely had Clemson as a playoff team last year.

Imagine if Clemson had TCUs explosive play count last year -- IMO the defensive stats get better and less people are claiming Wes is on the hot seat (which I think is still a little wild at this point).

A great example of this is the ACC Championship. When CK2 checked in and we popped UNC with explosive plays, it killed their spirit and they folded in the second half. It definitely didn't hurt with a pick 6 when UNC started pressing!

If we had just ONE MORE explosive play in the regular season finale, we'd have been in the playoffs.
