ESPN has worst month ever - down 621,000 subscribers

Oct 29, 2016, 12:10 PM

Their average loss over the last year has been a little over 300,000 a month, which was already bad. This is a huge jump. Using the stats from the article, if this rate continues they will be losing money in 2 years.

Now that they have turned their collective backs on those principles they shall reap what they have sown...

This is not just an ESPN problem...

It is happening everywhere in cable industry with trend to cut cable and go full streaming. I did it.

You can get ESPN through Sling and Playstation Vue (You can use the Playstation Vue package as the cable login as well). So they are still getting money, just probably not as much.

ESPN not alone in this.

It's more of a problem for ESPN because they have long-term contracts that require them to pay out 7.2 billion dollars a year to the NFL, NCAA Conferences, NBA, etc. They are paying 1.9 billion just for Monday NIght Football, and the ratings for that have taken a nosedive this year. Even NBC, CBS, ABC are only on the hook for around $4 billion each, and those contracts are much shorter. Until all those big contracts run out, ESPN is screwed.

Blame the hate speech by those basketball players at the beginning of the ESPYS this year...ESPN is digging their own grave.

Their BLM, , feminazi Title IX culture is taking a big steaming dump in the mouths of their target demographic. How long before we start getting real estate shopping and cooking shows on ESPN? Disney can eat my shorts.
