Giving the TarHoles any kudos is almost as bad as giving USuC kudos, but what Erin Matson has done this year at UNC is unbelievable.
2018-2022 player at UNC.
- 4 national championships
- 4 ACC POYs
- 3 NCAA Tourny MVPs
- Considered the greatest of all time to play field hockey
2023 UNC Head Coach
- youngest D-1 coach ever in any sport
- leads team and former teammates her 1st NC as a coach and UNC's 5th straight NC
- Only HC ever in any sport to win a NC in the first year of their entire coaching career

Hiring her as HC would be like us hiring TL16 as football HC immediately after his last game at Clemson.
Then him winning the Natty the very next year as HC.
The coach/player dynamics alone, have to be insane. One day your teammates and best friends doing typical college stuff. The next you're the HC for those same friends and teammates. That hire took some guts for the AD.

It does hurt….but you have to congratulate Ms. Matson and tip your hat to the UNC athletic director. Remarkable two years.
