I’m a Clemson grad living in Hattiesburg, MS. If you use the same model as football, facilities, and success, it’s time to tear it down and start fresh. LSU, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State are examples of what college baseball stadiums are moving towards. Not just an SEC thing. Southern Miss has a nicer facility than we do. It’s time to step up with facilities or we might as well expect to live in mediocrity like we did in football in the past.

Got to admit, Mississippi State’s stadium is an impressive sight…

But will larger and shinier facilities create demand, or will a strong program need to come first?

That really is a great question. Actually Wilhelm built it first and still didn't have shinny toys to entice fellas to come play. Penley had to practice in a cow pasture when he got there but built us into golf royalty.
We had great football facilities at the time and west and Hatfield didn't do crap. Both matter, but coaching does matter more imo.

I'd like to see the day when Clemson has the number 1 facilities in every sport. There's no reason why we shouldn't. And have the teams to match them.

College sports facilities will always be a "Keeping up with

the Jones's" arms race. The amount of money distributed at the end of each year from TV contracts for the big conferences ensures that millions annually will be spent upgrading facilities. What is considered "great" today will be "in need of upgrade" five years from now.
Seeing all that money being thrown around is probably one of the major reasons college football players (or people representing them) pushed for the NIL laws now going into effect. They wanted their piece of that pie.

How exactly is Clemson supposed to have the best facilities in every sport? There are a lot of other schools who also have plenty of funs and passionate fans who are also upgrading their facilities and trying to have the best.

Also- we just spent a bunch of money so the hoops players can have light-up cartoon characters of themselves above their lockers.
I’m really looking forward to a solid ROI on that.

The seats look horrible at DKS. Been to TCU stadium and it’s just a caliber below Miss.state and Arkansas, however , I believe it only seats around 5k. DKS is probably a middle of the pack stadium if you put all the Power 5 stadiums together.
In a money is no problem world, we would tear down the stands and build new with a roof covering 80% of the seats. That way you would have an option of sitting in the sun or shade. Have a couple of field level suites down one of the lines and …………….buy a new baseball coach. I would hate to be responsible for selling season tix next year knowing there is zero momentum around the program.
And while we’re spending imaginary money, Memorial Stadium needs a good pressure washing.

Well real money built the Reeves building. In a different environment with COVID, however, once that’s not an excuse and everything is back at full capacity, the donors and administration will have to determine how they want to prioritize baseball and the funds to compete with the big boys.

What would we have to do. Obviously we're not taking even a small priority away from football, nor should we. We are rather small alumni base compared to other big schools. We don't have a huge endowment. Really don't want to get into the business of endorsements.
I'm not smart enough to know but they're plenty on here that are. Not sure what uva has but they beat us to a baseball championship.
I do know one thing, the sec as a whole have done an incredible marketing job selling themselves as institutions where championships are won. All good questions and if we could get some civil input, the better.

Facilities are not the problem with the baseball team

Sure you can fix them but you'd be ignoring the roots of the problem: scholarship money availability and coaching/development. Sounds like the administration is figuring out a way to handle problem #1 and thus will give more time to address problem #2.
DKS has been upgraded more than a few times in the last 15-20 years. It's not like it's old and rotten.

I will offer an analogy. Marshall soccer was never more than an also ran. In 2013 they spent 18 mil on a new soccer complex. The new complex also showed a willingness to invest in the program. However they kept the same coach they had for 21 years, and stayed an also ran program.
In 2017 they were able to draw a very successful DII coach and great players. I'm not sure he would have come without the new facility, and the players would not have come without him. 18 mil may not seam like much,, but for Marshall, especially for a non-revenue sport, it was a huge deal.
By the way, like Dabo coach Chris Grassie promotes a family atmosphere. Like Clemson, all the players appreciate the warm welcome and support from the city of Huntington and the fans. One of his best defenders had offers from the big soccer schools until he hurt his knee. Grassie was the only coach not to pull his offer. Remind you of anyone ?

TIGER FIELD IS ONE OF THE TOP FACILITIES IN THE COUNTRY. WE HAVENT HAD A WHOLE LOT TO CHEER ABOUT RECENTLY BUT IT SURE AS HE!! HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FACILITY. MAYBE YOU MISSED COLVINS WALK OFF GRAND SLAM OR SOME OF THE COOT GAMES RECENTLY. WHEN THERE IS SOMETHING TO CHEER ABOUT THAT PLACE IS A ZOO. TRUE, WE DO NOT HAVE PEOPLE THROWING BEER ON EACH OTHER. MAYBE YOU MISSISSIPPIANS GET OFF ON THAT KIND OF THING. IIGER FIELD WILL BE ROCKING AGAIN WHETHER IT IS WITH MONTE OR SOMEONE ELSE.

Clemgal ..... that's an interesting list. However, until they get rid of that garbage plastic field and the yoyo whistler dude at Vanderbilt, they will never have a top 10 stadium. I'm a little surprised that Costal Carolina's is in there, but I have not been there, so good for them.

I’m not a Mississippian, I just live here now with work. If you think DKS is an elite stadium you’re kidding yourself. It isn’t anymore. Have you been to the other stadiums I’ve mentioned? If not, take a trip and see what the differences are. They’re significant.

With all due respect, all this post does is arm Monte and DRad with their excuse for another mediocre season next year. Now that Covid and scholarship issues have been addressed, mark my word at the end of next season the excuse will be, we can’t compete with our facilities.

We could build on to make our facilities be the nicest for 40 million if someone’s got a little donation(just don’t use wood). Crazy how expensive wood is since last year, we must be running out of trees lol!
Of course to me our facilities are very nice now in comparison to most.

The price being paid to tree farmers is as low as it's been in 30 years! There is no logical reason for lumber prices to be this high!!

in reality the only facilities that really matter are the players facilities and ours are top notch. no doubt we could use a few fan bells and whistles but to say we have bad facilities is just ignorant. and i actually would rather drink my beer than throw it on other people. but hey, thats just me.

Oh, make no mistake. Monte Lee will never get us to where we want to go. That has zero to do with facilities. He’s probably, as far as running a program, the worst in the ACC.
I would be happy if they would just color coordinate the seats. Some are Tennessee orange and some are green.
Was visiting Auburn on a tour back in January and was surprised at their baseball stadium. It looked really nice. Now their football stadium looks like 1980, but the basketball and baseball were great .
