Is UCF in the SEC?

Sep 25, 2013, 11:24 AM

I'm just thinking ahead in case UCF were to upset SCar. How are they going to spin that "SEC competition" thing to excuse that loss ??

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

let the excuses begin....

Sep 25, 2013, 11:34 AM

Even though several coots I know mocked us for a sub par win over NCSU, should they win by 1 over UCF then forget it. "It was the biggest game in their history." "We were disinterested." "AAC refs man." "Jadumbo had a stomach bug." "We should've started Dylan." "The weather." "Well they'd beat you guys."

Please UCF, beat these guys. And if you do then expect to see usuc flags being quickly replaced with Bama flags; as they ride there wave.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

SC is favored by less over UCF than Clemson was over NCSU

Sep 25, 2013, 11:48 AM

So, to me it wouldn't be that big of a shock if they lost. It wouldn't be as surprising as if NC State had beaten Clemson.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

are you serious ?so, you are saying if nc state had beaten

Sep 25, 2013, 4:00 PM

clemson, you would be more surprised than if ucf beats usuc ? so, a conference usa team beating a top 3 sec eastern division team would come as no surprise to you? ok, now that you mention it, me either. we have said for a few years now that the sec west is good, sec east, not so much.

Re: are you serious ?so, you are saying if nc state had beaten

Sep 25, 2013, 7:07 PM

hey, private tiger, what he was saying was that we were a 14 point favorite over ncsu, and uscu is only a 7 point favorite over ucf. that would be a 7 point difference in civilian math. you just jumped a little too soon. not a coot post just a logical one. back to seeking out coots.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

you must have taken my post out of context.

Sep 26, 2013, 8:43 AM

read it again, starting with my 3rd sentence and you will see that my dig is at usuc/sec east. dang, lighten up there, terrier.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Of course they would say that they weren't up for the game

Sep 25, 2013, 11:34 AM

because UCF is below them.

I expect it to be a pretty good game

ucf is not in the top 25. but they are a bcs team with 60,000 plus students. double what the coots have.

Based on an enrollment of....

Sep 25, 2013, 11:58 AM

roughly 62,000, UCF is the second largest school in the entire US.

With space on campus for only about 6,000 (mostly Freshmen) it is largely a commuter school that ranks 97th per USNews among public schools and 174th overall.

Re: It seems like a fall-back school....

Sep 25, 2013, 3:08 PM

Well Miami and Florida are both very good schools. FSU is a bit more like SCU I guess, but still 15 spots ahead of them.

I guess it's understandable that a fair amount of kids wouldn't get into one of those schools, but 60K just seems RIDIC.

Do they turn anyone down? Or is this like a community college?

As Chris Rock says, a community college means everybody in the community can go. Crackheads, prostitutes, come on down!

as bad as it sounds, most schools are not just about the

Sep 25, 2013, 4:09 PM

the best grades of the kids it admits. tons of students whose academic accolades are beyond reproach gets turned down by schools for various reasons. this high and mighty attitude by some of our t-netters is plain red-iculous. at least the kids are going on for their post secondary education.
sorry, raginranger, this rant isn't directed at you, it's just that i've seen it so many times recently.

I've heard they're very "SEC like" a few times already

Sep 25, 2013, 11:46 AM

Of course they. Also UCF would "love to get a win over the SEC"

That's going to be tough for UCF to beat

Listening to 560 AM on my way through Columbia yesterday

Sep 25, 2013, 11:50 AM

and they were calling it the biggest game in UCF history.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

From thier website, I'd say this is:

Sep 25, 2013, 11:53 AM

2007

After a season-opening win at NC State, the Knights play on campus for the first time, hosting sixth-ranked Texas in the inaugural game at Bright House Network Stadium. In front of 45,622 fans, the Longhorns escape with a 35-32 victory.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Clemson

That's a case of $CU fans simply flattering themselves...

Sep 25, 2013, 12:07 PM [ in reply to Listening to 560 AM on my way through Columbia yesterday ]

UCF hosted No. 3 Texas back in 2007 which was a bigger game for them than South Carolina.

That said, it would be copnsidered one of their bigger home games although over the years, UCF has gone on the road to face teams like Georgia Tech, Northwestern, Alabama, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Mississippi State, Purdue, Auburn, Florida, Miami, Texas, Kansas State, BYU, Ohio State, and Clemson.

SC eeked past them in Spurrier's first SC-coached game:

Sep 25, 2013, 11:58 AM

"Spurrier should remember the last time the schools met, as it marked his return to college coaching Sept. 1, 2005. South Carolina made a stop on fourth down at its 1-yard line late in the fourth quarter to hang on for a 24-15 victory."

REVENGE !!

Didn't want to be there, of course

Taking the orange colored glasses off...

Sep 25, 2013, 12:40 PM

I really, REALLY hope UCF upsets USuCjr but I doubt that it happens. SC beats UCF on paper all day long. The coots simply have better talent. That said, I believe that dicipline and team work can beat raw talent in many cases, especially when the team with raw talent is undiciplined and lacks team unity or focus. USCjr is just such an undiciplined and disjointed team but I don't think UCF is as diciplined or unified in purpose as they need to be in order to over come the Coot challenge. Being realistic, who sees it differently and why?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree

Sep 25, 2013, 1:26 PM

SCU just has too much athleticism to lose to Commuter U (I can say that, I lived down the street from UCF years ago). I do respect what Oleary has done there, I just dont see it happening.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

already

Sep 25, 2013, 1:13 PM

Had a coot tell me that UCF gets players that Florida, couldn't get admitted. In other words, they have sec talent.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

i hope

Sep 25, 2013, 1:15 PM

Ucf does beat them. I have that game as my upset special this week.would love to go a few days with no texts or fb messages from coot boasters

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Sep 25, 2013, 1:23 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: USuc will win the game

Sep 25, 2013, 3:09 PM

I dunno. UCF has a legit offense and SCU's defense has been questionable this season.

The question is can UCF stop SCU? Probably not.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Is UCF in the SEC?

Sep 25, 2013, 6:15 PM

No but they have SEC wine coolers & SEC coaching. Plus some of their family members wear SEC shirts & hats so they're all juiced & hyper. I think Clowney's gonna kill somebody.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I feel dumber than a Coot right now.

Sep 25, 2013, 6:34 PM

I must have missed the discussion at that time as to why the Big Yeast would change their name to something that sounds so unwieldy, the American Athletic Conference (AAC ),and can easily be confused with another existing conference, the ACC. Was looking up some other team's stats the other day and then it hit me. The AAC is now listed first on all D-1 conference standings that go in alphabetical order. Kind of a lame reason to shout "hey look at me, I'm still relevant."

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I feel dumber than a Coot right now.

Sep 25, 2013, 7:11 PM

the reason they choose that name that looks and sounds like the acc is we have all the teams in the acc that started in that conference. swoffy stole them.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I feel dumber than a Coot right now.

Sep 25, 2013, 7:12 PM

and the big east still had a better bcs record than the acc.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They're first alphabetically in "major" college conferences

Sep 26, 2013, 8:08 AM [ in reply to I feel dumber than a Coot right now. ]

"Major" used extremely loosely when it comes to the AAC. That's the only reason I can think that they'd use such an unwieldy name--and not only that, but insist that it not be abbreviated (like that's gonna happen).
