We used to watch Chelsea every night then we saw her live. HUGE disappointment. she was obviously drunk slurred quite a bit and was not at all good.
And the crowd was worse, screaming 20 yr drunk girls who think Chelsea is their idol.
She would implode within 10-12 weeks

The guy actually wasn't the problem, his crazy ex girlfriend was. The current girlfriend met the ex girlfriend on the bus(lol, like white middle class women use public transportation) and somehow convinced the current gf to kill her father. Completely predictable from start to finish, and utterly stupid.
I just thank god Army Wives got cancelled.

Interesting that somebody like Dennis Miller was never considered. I guess his late- night show flop did him in. Or, you know, it could be that his politics are too "controversial," unlike Colbert's or Handler's politics (rolling eyes).

Talk show hosts talk about politics all the time, and political news seems to be one of the main features of Jon Stewart's show. Inevitably, a person's politics color the way they talk about political news and interview people. There's nothing wrong with that, but it would just be nice if at least one of these guys had some right of center instincts rather than just always pulling somebody from the gaggle of left- wing comics.

Adam Carolla is funny and a good interviewer. Gregg Gutfeld from Fox News's Red Eye (which I've never seen, but which is supposed to be good) is another one I've heard about. Frankly, though, I don't watch enough of these kinds of shows to know of a lot of good candidates. And I wouldn't want to watch a show that put its ideology in front of the comedy, but somebody with more conservative instincts is naturally going to pick up on stuff that somebody with liberal instincts doesn't.
There are plenty of other comics who aren't at all "political comics." For instance, I've never been able to tell what Conan O'Brien's politics were.

Jimmy Fallon is really good about politics
Apr 10, 2014, 2:38 PM

as was Leno. The key is to go after both sides and never make it the focus of your show. (Unless you are the Daily Show which is more of a lampoon than talk show)
Adam Carolla is never going to be a mainstream guy and that's good for him. His career would be hurt if he tried to go above his head. Gregg Gutfeld would be a disaster. He isn't funny (even if Red Eye is decent, which it is) but really thinks he is and that's a horrible combination in a comedian.
I actually wonder why there isn't a conservative/republican daily show as it doesn't really seem that hard to do. Show a clip, add a bit of commentary and then have a guest on. Seems easy. Apparently it's not. (I know Glenn Beck's channel has or is trying to do one but it looked awful)

version of The Daily Show that sounded interesting. I'll just reiterate, though, that if they're trying to make a conservative answer to The Daily Show, it's going to suck because the politics will take priority over the comedy. Instead, a comic who leans right needs to get a show.

Funny is funny.
Like when two nights ago, stewart played a clip of Obama celebrating Obamacare and saying "we didn't do a hard sell", then Stewart looked incredulously at the camera and rolled off about a dozen ways Obama DID do a hard sell.
But I suppose you don't watch enough to get all that. You see what Fox news wants you to see.
I've tried to watch Colbert and can't, but Stewart is awesome and a great interviewer no matter who he has on.

but used to be forced to watch Stewart by people who thought he was funny. Never thought it was any good, and in fact thought he's done more to contribute to the ironic attitude that everyone has about everything than just about anybody. Stewart is certainly sharp, but it's undeniable that he leans left and doesn't mind showing it at times.

His show is amazing at what it does. Best writing of any comedy show on tv (network/cable/whatever). The only problem are his interviews (outside of the "get to know" series) because of his character having to be an idiot doesn't work against someone only on to plug something.
Agree with you about Stewart though. He goes after both sides (but will go after the right more often) but his interviews are the best on tv right now.

where Stephen has said the colbert report allows him to do all the things he is good at as a performer. So the character is just one aspect of that performance. I don't see why losing it would affect all the other facets of his performing.
