Clemson, SC— (press release)Thomas Higgins, Andrew Swanson and Jonathan Nielsen all had rounds in the 60s to help Clemson make a 12-shot team improvement on Friday in the second round of the Ka’anapali Classic at Royal Ka’anapali Golf Course in Lahaina, Hawaii. The Tigers are in 13th place in the 20-team field with a 564 team score entering Saturday’s final round on the par 71 course that measures 6700 yards.

Clemson improved from Thursday’s 288 team score to an eight under par 276 score on Friday. It was the biggest improvement from Thursday to Friday among the 20 teams and Clemson’s 276 score was the fifth best in the second round.

Swanson had six birdies and three bogeys in scoring his three-under-par 68, while Higgins had five birdies and just two bogeys in scoring his 68. He is in 44th place with a 140 total. Higgins is in 24th place after two rounds with a 138 score, four-under-par.

Nielsen’s round of two-under-par 69 on Friday, included five birdies and three bogeys. The Clemson senior has a 139 total after 36 holes, good enough for 36th place.

Kian Rose had five birdies on the way to an even par 71 in the second round. Will Baker had his first career eagle with a three on the par five first hole, but finished with a 76.

Clemson’s top player on Friday and in the tournament so far has been Alberto Dominguez, who had a career best six-under-par 65. His day included a seven-under-par 30 on the front nine, the low nine-hole score of the year by a Clemson golfer. He finished with seven birdies and an eagle. Combined with his opening round 69, he stands at 134 through two rounds, tied for seventh in the field of 120 golfers. He enters the final round just four shots off the lead.

The tournament concludes on Saturday with the final 18 holes. Live scoring is available on golfstat.com.

@ The Ka'anapali Classic in Lahaina, HI . . . Ending their Tournament efforts in 10th Place (out of 20) . . . a solid improvement over their Opening Round Efforts!!!

Kudos to:
Thomas Higgins (-10) T-8th Place
Alberto Dominguez (-8, as an Individual) T-15th Place
Jonathan Nielsen (-6) T-24th Place
