High Expectations
Zac Brooks’ Clemson career hasn’t turned out like many would have expected when the Arkansas native committed to the Tigers back in 2011. However, Brooks is finally healthy and ready to take "Athens by storm”. Full Story » |

Honestly, I wouldn't say Brooks' career has been a disappointment. When he came here as a freshman, he was coming in behind Andre Ellington, a 1.5 year starter. Then this past year he had a good chunk of playing time in a carousel of running backs...with Hot Rod gone, there's no doubt that this is the year to step up and make a statement, but I'm not sure I would call the career disappointing thus far.?

I'll be honest, I thought he'd be superstar here in Morris

offense. He seemed to be the perfect blend of WR and RB. He could line up in the backfield and take the handoff, he could line up out wide and run the jet sweep, or he could line up out wide and run a route, or motion out of the backfield into a route.

I think his time is about to come...

He's still just been here 2 years. I think he has a very solid season, then a breakout his senior year.
I'd love to see him on more receiving routes, and maybe line up in the slot. Are we gonna throw, are we gonna run a sweep with him? I don't know, and defenses may not either. I like that he can help keep opponents off balance. He may not be a game changer like Watkins or Spiller, but he'll be a heck of a contributor.

Ellington only showed flashes his first 2 years so has brooks. Hot Rod showed little his first 3 years but in his fifth year he was a 1000 yd RB!
If we had had enough RBs brooks may have red shirted his first year. But I look forward to see what he and Howard can do this year. If either stay healthy I expect one of them to start at UGa!

and do what Davis and Spiller did when they first get here. That is rare and become more rare when you have NFL level guys playing.

with out surgery. His shoulder has been an issue since his freshman year. I hope he comes out and plays like the guy he wants to be this year. I notice that it is "team" with our kids. I used to think that this was an interview theme but it seems to be the true heart and soul of these guys, that is special.

That's a whole lotta scholarships being taken up by RB's
Mar 21, 2014, 10:40 AM

and we have a lack of depth at OL.
Howard Brooks Davidson Dye Gallman Jay Jay McCullough (RB/TE) Oglesby (if he qualifies) Fuller (if he qualifies and doesnt move to DB) Choice
By my count that's possibly EIGHT scholarships out of 85 for RB's. Who needs that darn many?

RB is a position in the HUNH

That almost always falls on multiple baxks. By the exhaustant nature of this offense we need many available backs and different skill sets are a plus. Defenses hurt running backs , so you have to keep extras. Im feeling pretty good about our talent pool for the upcoming season.
