Boston College - Weekend

Anybody else coming up to Boston for the BC game? It is always great to see my hometown (Boston) painted orange here that weekend. I checked the future schedules and looks like we don't play BC next year, but play them in Boston again in 2024. The schedule beyond that is uncertain with the adjustments in the ACC. It is always a great and fun weekend up here.

The plan is to spend Friday running around the city, go to the game on Saturday, and then fly home Sunday morning.

Flying up with a group for Friday, Sat and Sunday. Recommendations how to use the time best. Places to see and things to do from a current bostonian?

Yes, first where are you staying?
Highly recommend the Duck Tours, which will give you a really good view of different things in Boston. Also, if you are in the mood for walking, take the Freedom Trail, which is a red line painted throughout the city which takes you to all of the historic places, you just follow the red line on the sidewalk.
For meals, highly recommend at least one dinner in the North End, which is the Italian section. Any restaurant on Hanover Street is very good. There are also some great seafood restaurants to check out. Boston Sail Loft is one of my favorites.
For Gameday, BC doesn't have as big a tailgating scene as we have at Clemson. There are some bars around the campus, but they will be very packed on gameday. I typically find a bar where a lot of Clemson people are planning to meet up that isn't as crowded, usually a few miles away, have fun then head to the game from there.

of Duck Boats where one sank in Branson, Missouri a few years back and drowned several people? If so, I would have thought they would have been outlawed everywhere because of the liability by now.
(I actually took a Duck Boat tour in Branson a couple years before that incident happened. I didn't get a real warm fuzzy out of it at the time, and the water was pretty calm when we did it.)

I'm not a current Bostonian, but have spent a lot of time there. I recommend:
-Freedom Trail (walking tour of the city that hits a lot of the important historical sites) -Faneuil Hall/Quincy Hall (shopping, restaurants, and even street performers) -North End (Italian food) -Duck Tours (gives you a nice overview of the city from land and water) -Fenway Park (if you're a baseball fan, or even just a history fan) -Cambridge (Harvard's campus is pretty)
Getting around on the T (public transit) is very easy. I would encourage you to do that rather than driving a car. You can even take the T to Chestnut Hill for the game against BC.

Coming south from Maine for the game! Just a heads up, I am looking at public transportation for the game and it looks like the Green line T will be down that weekend. Probably need to have a plan in place. I think we will end up purchasing one of their parking passes for on-campus.

This will be our first trip to Boston. Leaving on Tuesday with our RV (Grand Design Solitude 5th wheel) and staying in Gloucester for 2 weeks. We are looking forward to visiting the many historic sites (especially the USS Constitution), Duck Boat tour, attending a Boston Symphony event, eating Italian food and seafood, eating more Italian food and seafood, visiting Salem, etc. Of course I'll be doing a bit of Geocaching! Any other recommended things to do are appreciated. Any recommendations on a good golf course in the area? This is our first "post retirement trip" and is to make up for a planned trip to Boston in 2020 when the game was rescheduled due to COVID. I was told by a friend that in the past there have been Clemson socials held on the USS Constitution. Does anyone know anything about this and can my wife and I get invited??

I don't know about any Clemson socials on the USS Constitution, I do know that on the Friday night before the game, the New England Alumni Club of Clemson and IPTAY are putting on an event to welcome all of the Clemson fans to Boston. These are usually really fun. As for good golf courses, there are many and I would suggest just doing a Google search depending on the area where you will be staying to find a course with good reviews. Hope that you enjoy your trip.

Does anyone know which sections of Alumni Stadium will be Clemson Sections? Traveling with 2 children, so I want to make sure I am in a friendly area!

Visitors side from end zone to 10 yd. line. Cold damp and continuous loud piped in music and noise.

If you ride the T to game take the Greenline C. The other T will stop mile and half from stadium. If you are in the North End Bell in Hand Tavern, Union Oyster House, Mike's Pastry. Lucca restaurant is pretty good.
