And at the end of the season, they'll be more q3, maybe q4 teams, some of the q2s will most likely become q3s, and so forth. We could go .500 and we're still in.
For example: Our net will slip as will our sos. Look at the coots. They beat ole miss (5 loss team with a 62 net) and dropped 2 spots in net. Plus you have the tournaments etc. Saying, lots of change between now and then. Not a lot of different between a 6 or 7.

I've said it many times - your movement in the NET is not just about your most recent result. We moved up 2 spots overnight and didn't even play a game. UofSC falling two spots is not necessarily related to their win over Ole Miss.
Other teams win, other teams lose, SOS and SOR and Quad results all move and cascade with those results.
Also, the later in the year you go, the smaller the movements because the sample sizes are bigger and one result does not have as much of an impact on a larger dataset.
Alabama got blown out and fell one spot. UNC lost to us at home and only fell one spot. Movements will continue to shrink (unless a drastic result like losing Q3/Q4 games).

Stories like this are why the NET is so convoluted. In the same story, it says

our loss to GT was a Q3 (bad) loss. And yet, further down the story, it says our upcoming game with GT is an opportunity to get a win against a Q2 GT team. How can it be both ways? They sure as heck don't do it that way in football, although I have said for years that they SHOULD. A win or loss should continue to be judged by what the perception of a team AT the TIME THE GAME WAS PLAYED was. We are a completely different team than we were two months ago, and so is GT.

Because the quads are based on home, neutral, and away sites.

When beating or losing to a team, the quad they fall in is based on their NET and the game site.
Quadrant 1: Home 1-30, Neutral 1-50, Away 1-75 Quadrant 2: Home 31-75, Neutral 51-100, Away 76-135 Quadrant 3: Home 76-160, Neutral 101-200, Away 135-240 Quadrant 4: Home 161-353, Neutral 201-353, Away 241-353

I agree that some consideration should be given regarding when the game was played. Virginia is a great example. They were a much different team when they beat us than they were in November. It should be a quad 1 loss for us (and I ultimately believe it will be).

Thanks. I forgot about that. That explains the question I had vs Pitt (Q3 the first time, Q2 the next time we play them). This system hurt us last year, but will help us this year.

Sure it should, teams change over teh season. Players are lost, players are gained. team play worse, teams play better. This makes a difference. trust me, it does.

They're doing what they've always done, and that is to make it smell bad when it's Clemson, and it will smell like roses for anyone else that may have the very same record against the very same teams, or who has done the very same things...

No, they are not. In fact, there is no “they”. These are computer algorithms that couldn’t care less what the names of the teams are.
I’m not saying I agree or disagree with the algorithms themselves, but that’s all this is.

BLUF: Net is dog #####, but winning games is what matters

Tigers can’t do a damb thing about their Net, but they CAN keep winning games. That’s what matters. As somejuan smart has said: “Control the things you can and don’t let the other stuff distract you.”
GO TIGERS!!!

Our NET is actually really good and is boosting our NCAA tournament chances this year. Last year was the other way around, and that’s because we lost so many games to bottom teams. We still have that risk this year with a few quad three games left to play.

Just look at what was done last season with Clemson's win-loss record. We had a better record than quite a few teams last season, and Clemson gets sent to the NIT, and those that had a less appealing record went to the NCAA tournament!!!

We would have had the most losses Q3/Q4 losses in the history of the rankings to make the NCAA tournament. We did not belong.

The GT loss was an aberration. GT hit an incredibly large number of 3 point shots late in that game.
