ESPN top uncommitted prospects

Jul 23, 2013, 12:13 PM

Includes a couple "projected" to Clemson.

Lorenzo Featherston
Lorenzo Featherston
Greensboro, N.C./Page
ESPN 300 RANK: 26
POS: DE
HT/WT: 6-7/202
STARS:
Clemson

The Tigers made an outstanding impression on Featherston during his visit in February, and he has a great relationship with the Clemson staff. But this battle will likely be a marathon, so Clemson will have to see if it can hold up for the rest of the race again NC State, as well as Florida and FSU if he visits either this summer.

Donte Thomas-Williams
Donte Thomas-Williams
Durham, N.C./Hillside
ESPN 300 RANK: 46
POS: RB
HT/WT: 6-0/217
STARS:
Clemson

Thomas-Williams is big on Notre Dame and Clemson. With Elijah Hood committing to the Fighting Irish, expect the Tigers to pick up a big piece of the puzzle in the ESPN 300 running back. He has said he feels at home with Clemson as well.

Trevion Thompson
Durham, N.C./Hillside
ESPN 300 RANK: 148
POS: WR
HT/WT: 6-2/181
STARS:
Clemson

Like most on this list, this is merely a projection at this point, especially since Thompson is likely to hold out until close to signing day before making a decision known. Clemson is selling Thompson on coming in and replacing Sammy Watkins, possibly as early as 2014.

The question is who do we take? I know we would take Featherston and Thompson right now but if Quinn or Leonard commit we might pass on both.

Another RB?

We seem pretty heavy on the backs this class. I would prefer a DL or OL pick-up if at all possible. Everything else feels pretty saturated.

I know there are some questions about CJ or Jaylon qualifyin

could certainly be justified to take another, especially one as highly ranked as Thomas-Williams.

Quinn and McMillan

Jul 23, 2013, 12:44 PM

Here is what it says for those 2:

Raekwon McMillan
Raekwon McMillan
Hinesville, Ga./Liberty County
ESPN 300 RANK: 13
POS: ILB
HT/WT: 6-2/249
STARS:
Ohio State

McMillan cannot get enough of Columbus, Ohio, which will be important if the Buckeyes want to fend off programs such as Clemson and Georgia that are closer to home. Also keep an eye on Alabama, which has been rising up his list the past few weeks.

Trey Quinn
Lake Charles, La./Barbe
ESPN 300 RANK: 38
POS: WR
HT/WT: 6-1/200
STARS:
LSU

With home-state LSU after him and his dad an LSU graduate, one would think he'd be a strong LSU lean. He might be, but Quinn continues to be interested in high-powered offenses while he waits to see if Cam Cameron can sell LSU's offensive direction.
