I thought it was insane dropping that much on a mattress, but someone reasoned to me that you spend 1/3 of your life in bed, so why not splurge?

"professional grade" coolers
Aug 18, 2015, 1:52 PM
|
|
I laughed for years at the people with Yeti's as I toted my little $20 Igloos and Colemans around. Then the handle broke on my Coleman, and I got tired of having hot beer by 5:00 after the ice melted in my Igloo 4 hours later...So I snagged me a scratch and dent K2 and probably won't go back to cheap ones. Maybe for dead hookers and stuff like that, but not for important tasks like keeping my Keystones cold. Looking at a bigger (orange one) for tailgating now.
Deckboat...Swore I'd never have one, now I love mine. Always considered them the mini-van of the water, but I accept it now.
Oh, and Clemson basketball tickets. Still not sure why, but we enjoy going to the games.

I still don't think I could ever pay that money for a cooler

At least you went the scratch and dent route. Literally, you could buy a generator, a mini fridge, a gas tank, keystones, and gas for the price of some of those coolers - prolly not quite as convenient though.

Yeah, I don't think I could drop over $300 on a cooler
Aug 18, 2015, 2:03 PM

Even $300 would be really stretching it. Of course, I also have a $450 remote control boat, so I have wasted far more money on far less functional items.
It is nice to pack it on friday and just add beer as the weekend progresses though.

probably the 20 qt. We end up walking around quite a bit tailgating, and I'm not toting a full cooler everywhere we go. So far, I've been carrying beer in a plastic bag..which honestly, I'm a little old to be doing.

I went off and got a cheap ### bag from walmart for the beach this year. I call it my beer purse cause that is what it is. It carries plenty of beer though and it easier to handle than the cooler it replaced.
I don't take my vomitfest cooler to the beach, I feel that would draw suspicion from cops and be too much trouble to haul from car to sand.

What kind of boat do you prefer?

Now, I don't want a pontoon boat, but the other images I saw seem to be the type of boat I want. Since I don't care much about skiing and such. I'd care about space to bring hot chicks that would not talk to me otherwise.

I would have preferred an outboard though. They've got some that are pretty suitable for fishing, as well. A dual console might be a little better for you being on the ocean. The newer dual consoles have a lot more seating.
Ultimately, I want a boat that can go over 100 mph

I've had two--they are the "SUV" of boats.
But due to the crappy wind and surprising waves we have down here, cuddy cabins are the driest ride, so I got one of those.

Also, I'd be the idiot causing trouble at the landing with my boat so I probably won't buy one of those any time soon either. But yeah, some sort of people mover. A second boat would be a small fishing boat. I don't want to take a ton of folks fishing.

Or even a boat club. Get in, go out all day, drive it back, fill it up with gas, and leave. No washing, no cleaning, 1 of about 5-7 boats everytime, and only the monthly payment as long as you feel like doing it.

Fun story while on boat topics
Aug 18, 2015, 2:21 PM
[ in reply to deckboat sounds like a good fit for you ] |
|
My boat was not running the correct speed/rpms. So I took it to the Captain and told him everything that was going on. I told him "I know I've got the right prop, I called the manufacturer and this is the prop they recommend." He looked at it and said "I can tell you right now that's too much prop. I've been doing this for over 20 years. The first thing I'm gonna do is switch that 19 to a 17 and see how it performs." He called me two days later to tell me it had a bad coil. The boat runs perfect and tops out at the correct rpm with the prop I had on it.

I never have had the need nor the desire to go 84 mph in one.
I've found that anything over about 40 mph is pretty much a waste of money.

Truck. Dented it with a hammer when I left the dealership.
Cell phone for my 11 year old. Really a life changing purchase.
Dog. Stuck with it now, didn't really want it in the first place, but bygod I didn't have to deal with my wife and 11 year old anymore.
Daniel Rodriguez Rams Jersey. I've alternated wearing it and Michael Sam's Rams jersey every day this summer. At least one of them are still on a NFL roster.
