Hard to compare Woody with some of these others. It would have been fun to see Woody with some of the last ten year talent around him.

Absolutely correct.
Imagine if he had the same players around him as other qb’s.
Question: How do you stop Dantzler?
Answer: “12 players on defense and a crystal ball”

Trevor was more consistent and made less mistakes. Watson generally came up big in the big games and the big moments, but some of his heroics were necessary due in large part to his own mistakes. He turned the ball over ALOT more than TL.

I’m not close? Tlaw was the number one pick in the draft, and won the national championship as a freshman. He’s definitely close to Deshaun Watson, if not better. They each played in two title games, and were each 1-1. Trevor Lawrence arguably had the better defense in 2018, but that defense in 2016 was pretty darn good too.

Lawrence would have been the first pick no matter what. He had much better teams. It's not arguable. It's not a close call. Watson was better than Lawrence.

It’s just my opinion. I think TL16 had a much better supporting cast than DW4 had and I think he should have beat LSU but didn’t get it done. I don’t care where people get drafted because it’s typically idiotic. Would anyone say trubinski is a better qb than Deshawn?

It’s nice to hear perspectives from other teams fans. You opinion is just as good as any other, you just happen to like one of our main rivals lol
I agree DW4. He had a competitive nature and drive that you don’t see often. Yes he was turnover prone but he also willed our Tigers to wins that do not happen without him

Travis was awesome, but CJ had more all-purpose yards in 3 less games. And CJ played when the offense was more conservative and he played on less talented teams than Travis. Would loved to have seen CJ play on the 2017 to 2020 teams Travis played on.

Slight nod to Lawrence over Watson

I think Lawrence somehow gets underrated because of how good he was. It was almost robotic at times whereas with Watson you got the full emotional experience of the highs and the lows.
29 game win streak for Lawrence, better passing stats than Watson, far fewer turnovers, etc. Absolute peak Watson was probably better, but you definitely didn't get that all of the time.

I can give Woody his due -- he had some great moments and would definitely deserve to be in the conversation. And, FWIW, I'd honestly exclude QBs from this conversation on purpose - they honestly should be judged separately.
However, I still stand by my statement - CJ Spiller's highlight reel top to bottom can't be top. I'd even put it over Woody's - and I'm no stranger to Dantzler in Clemson lore.

shot blocking ability up against anybody who ever played the game, college or pro. Not only was he way above 7 feet tall to begin with, he had LONG arms and big hands on top of that.

Allen is the name many will have forgotten. He always ran hard and got the extra yard.

Much as I love Deshaun gotta go with Trevor. With him other teams lost before they stepped on the field.and the score just made it worse. I list count of the number of times I watched replays of those 2018 games

I think you have to go with Etienne.
How many records does he have? 4,952 yards rushing. 2nd closest is: 3,881. 408 points in his career; which surpassed a kicker(Catanzaro) for 1st place in Clemson history.
Period. Point. Blank.

T-Law, DW4, and ET are clear frontrunners But I have never seen a Tiger that could put a team on his back and be amazing every week quite like Spiller in '09

For pure playmaking ability, it's got to be CJ Spiller. And, let's not forget,

for all the records that CJ Spiller set, he did the first part of it while on a time share with another pretty doggone GREAT back named James Davis. Many want to point to CJ as our first truly great recruit of the modern era, post Danny. But, I think that honor really rightfully belongs to James Davis.
Spiller, and to a slightly less extent, Travis Etienne, are our two best examples of a "Hold your breath" type breakaway threat each and every time that they got the smallest sliver of daylight. Both were great, but there is no doubt Travis played with MUCH more talent around him than CJ Spiller did.

All these "TL won the natty as a freshman" posters......you ever think

that DW would have had a tremendous shot at playing for the natty as a freshman as well in 2015 if Cole Stoudt hadn't squandered the FSU and UGA games away? DW starts those, we win FSU, have solid odds vs UGA, and voila, playoffs.
