WBB is actually on TV. I love our mens soccer team, but WBB definitely has more of an impact on the sports world.

I was reacting to the comment of impact on “the sports world” of which college is a very small subset.

I think college soccer has maybe 1% of the viewership as college women's basketball. However, I agree worldwide obviously professional soccer is the most popular sport there is.

Even the WNBA pales in comparison to the Women’s World Cup. No argument on the college comparison in the US.

Yeah I prefer soccer much more too, it's pretty sad how little it seems like the rest of the college sports world cares. Women's basketball can get 15 million viewers but soccer can't even get 100k? I guess the US just can't seem to accept what the rest of the world has.

No one cares. They just don't. Espn and coots try to pretend people do but they dont. Its an awful sport. And the best team is coached by one of the most trash human beings in the entire sports world.

push notifications from news sources about the SC win tonight. I don’t personally care, but women’s basketball has become somewhat of a big deal in the last two years. Caitlin Clark has a lot to do with that, if SC was playing UConn it wouldn’t be as big, but it’s more popular than men’s college soccer.

I can honestly say I've never watched a WNBA game. Heck, I Haven't watched an NBA game since mid-90s. If you don't call it by the rules, then, not a sport anymore. YMMV.

but nationally college soccer is a blip on the radar. Many schools don;t have it and even among soccer people it is looked down upon by US soccer folks who think college soccer is holding the game back in the states.

The Iowa-UConn WBB game on Friday had more viewers than every 2023 NBA Finals game, every 2023 World Series game, every CFB conference championship game except the SEC's, the final round of the Masters, the Daytona 500, the Indy 500, every tennis grand slam final, and every regular-season college football game except one.

Any Championship for any sport is great. In today's world, social media clicks and TV ratings are what count and the Caitlin/Coot game will be hard to beat in views. I am big fan of women's sports unless the Olympics are on, but the influence that Caitlin Clark and the South Carolina women have had on women's sport and millions of young girls cannot be measured.

Most of us have agreed that winning in most sports fills seats.

The S.C. Women's Basketball team averaged over 16,000 attendance at home games this year with men as eager as the ladies to view the action. I wonder how many of our friends watched the ladies' title game yesterday, the answer probably being a goodly number.
I suspect were our Clemson ladies as successful, the Clemson folks would pack in LJ, as they have for many of our men's games this year.
If we're contrasting soccer to women's basketball, I think that depends on each of our preferences in sports.
