Could Clemson get left behind?

If the ACC implodes? We all assume that the SEC will welcome us with open arms or maybe the Big Ten. But the SEC has said over and over again they see no value in a second program from this state, no matter how good they are. And the Big Ten is still hung up on that AU business which Clemson is NOT a member. Could the Big 12 be our only option? Tell me I'm wrong. But I watch a lot of videos natiion wide and all of them say North Carolina is a much bigger fish for these confrences than Clemson.

The ACC imploding could be the best thing for Clemson. Both conferences are interested in Clemson - just not at a $120 million price tag. The ACC implodes, Clemson is free of the buy out, plenty of people will come a'callin'
Especially if we have played ourselves back into the top 10 by then.

Will Clemson implode by staying in the ACC? No....Could we be seriously handicapped by staying in the ACC? Yes
Clemson will find a landing spot somewhere and be fine in the long run but how far into the future that may be is anyones guess

UNC gets some shiny talk due to the TV Market numbers. The problem with those is that even when/if UNC is GOOD, they don't pull the numbers that Clemson has pulled. Yeah, that is really weighted with football. The UNC brand in basketball is still pretty heavy, but the TV numbers only build steam during the tournament and the difference between UNC and any other team at that point is negligible.
But the short of it is, buck up. Clemson is a worthy institution both the B1G and SEC would add given the opportunity. Don't let Pawl lie to you.

It’s all about football, and it’s not even close.
Notre Dame, Clemson, and FSU are by far the most attractive programs in the country.

They HAVE GOT to get Jeff Scott back on campus!!! AD needs to takeover the NIL. I truly believe Dabo is bulljiving the transfer portal. How else can you explain players going to programs like Georgia Tech and Arkansas

Depends on what the question is. I definitely think he could be the answer at WR coach, and going into year 5 it appears Grisham is in over his head. I think we will suffer if we keep him as he’s not able to point to any WR he’s helped get to the league.

In Grishams first year we had the most productive passing game in history.

And Grisham turned Cornell Powell and Amari Rogers into NFL draft picks. Powell was on nobody’s radar prior to Grisham.
Since then the entire program has been handcuffed my mediocre QB play. WRs don’t look too good when the QB isn’t up to par.
It’s true some WRs got frustrated while DJ was QB for 2 years, and fundamentals went by the wayside.
This season we had open receivers on nearly every passing play, but the QB needs to further develop at this level.
I don’t think we know exactly how good of a coach Grisham is, other than when the team had a great QB we had the most productive receiving stats in history.
Let’s see what the WRs do when the QB grows up. He’ll also have two of our best receivers back, in Antonio Williams and Cole Turner. Especially considering the incoming guys, the WR room will be more stacked than any year since 2020. Hopefully Cade grows, and the offense will take off.

We had production that year due to having the #1 pick at QB, and Powell and Rodgers had 3 years of being under Scott which I would consider more impactful than a season under Grisham. Not sure I’d name those guys as people Grisham developed.
The WB’s bare some blame for WR struggles, but there are also glaring issues with the way our WR’s play. They play small, fail to high point balls, and generally don’t fight for them. Drops and tipping balls up in the air continue to be an issue, as well as the atrocious blocking on the perimeter.
The only receiver position we’ve seen any life out of is the slot, and that’s typically their first year in campus and then progressively worse. Is it possible that Grisham, being a slot guy himself, doesn’t know how to properly coach the boundary guys? It’s completely different skill sets.
He’s also had highly rated guys that have done nothing under him (Collins, EJ Williams, Ross, Ngata, Ladson, and Randall to this point). Did Scott just have an amazing hit rate on guys and Grisham is just having tough luck, or is it possible it’s the coaching?
I hope he succeeds, as that means we succeed, but if this year is par for the course, then it’s time to move on from this mistake, because it won’t get better with time.

Forget about the portal for now. Recruiting is good at Clemson. Dabo wants guys that are committed not wishy washy guys . Coach wants grinders that aren't afraid of competition. Tell me where we lack. Keep in mind our coaching staff has been tweaked. Coaching staff changes will make a difference. We can win with what have. Go Tigers!!!

Expansion has been about expanding TV viewership. I don’t think either the SEC or Big think Clemson would add enough new TV viewership to offset the revenue dilution. Clemson is in a very weak position and is at extreme risk of being left behind.

We’re not at risk at all. Like you said, it’s about adding viewers, but adding viewers is no longer contingent on markets. With every game being available to anyone, anywhere, it’s all about the matchups. Clemson draws eyeballs, and regardless of the crowing you’ll hear from places like Tallahassee due to this season, they have paced the ACC for a decade in that department, almost always in the top 15, and routinely in the top 10. What the SEC says publicly, when they don’t want to appear to be tampering, and what they do behind the scenes, are two different things. Clemson will not be left behind, but will be the belle of the ball when it comes time to find a new partner.

Why would they think that? The numbers are there to see. They’re not stupid. Eyeballs are eyeballs, and Clemson captures them nationwide.
There are a lot of pundits out there and not a whole lot of journalists. What comes from the mouth of a pundit is just that - punditry. They say what they *think* or have heard from sources they won’t identify, trying to control the narrative.

Here’s some logical reasoning… the SEC has two schools from Mississippi, and two schools from Alabama. Both of which are currently less populated than the state of South Carolina.
