Former Clemson DB signs with the Rams

by - Assoc. Editor -

Former Clemson defensive back and free agent Coty Sensabaugh has agreed to a three-year contract worth around $15 million with the St. Louis Rams according to multiple reports.

Sensabaugh will join a Rams' defensive backfield that includes cornerbacks Trumaine Johnson and E.J. Gaines (Lisfranc injury in 2015) but recently lost cornerback Janoris Jenkins and safety Rodney McLeod to free agency.

This signing will help add much-needed veteran depth to the Rams' secondary, and it is expected that Sensabaugh will battle Gaines for the starter position at cornerback opposite Johnson. If he loses the job to Gaines, Sensabaugh has previous experience with the Titans playing the nickel cornerback position.

The Rams were ranked 23rd in passing defense last season.

In 2015, Sensabaugh had 60 tackles with two interceptions including picking off Jamesis Winstons' first career pass and returning it for a touchdown. For his NFL career, he has 169 tackles, two interceptions and a sack in four previous seasons with the Tennessee Titans.

The Rams selected Sensabaugh with the #115 overall pick in the fourth round of the 2012 draft after playing at Clemson. He had 87 tackles, four interceptions and 18 pass breaks ups in four seasons (52 games) for the Tigers.
